On Friday 12 October, BOOTIE, the international club brand that has helped popularise mashup culture around the globe, is back at Electrowerkz. And this time, it's a mashup battle across the pond – it's LONDON vs. NEW YORK!
Representing London is mashup legend THE KLEPTONES, one of the UK's best mashup producers. Since 2002, The Kleptones have released a series of highly-acclaimed internet-only albums, including the landmark "A Night At The Hip-Hopera," which mashed up a variety of rappers and sound samples with the seminal music of Queen, and the ambitious double-album "24 Hours," widely hailed as "the first real mashup concept album." They are about to release their long-awaited eighth album.
Hailing from New York City, DJ Lobsterdust has been mashing things up since 2006. As "one of the premiere mashup producers in North America" (Mashuptown.com) as well as a resident DJ at Bootie NYC, he mixes anything, from heavy metal to dub, and everything in-between, with a healthy dose of pop and electronic beats.
